Darkness and Shadow
I am struggling with darkness and shadow in my life today. It hasn’t stopped raining all day and unsupportive, negative vibes in my nearby world have left me perplexed.
But without darkness, there is no light. A beautiful client of mine has brightened my day and a great friend has held me up and I know she’s got my back. On days like this, I just don’t have words to express my thoughts and feelings so I turn to photography. It is a perfect day to share my photographs of darkness and shadow. Photography is all about light and playing with darkness and shadow can be pretty cool.
VOICE Competition
I entered into the category of Darkness and Shadow the the VOICE with these four photographs.
This first one is of my nephew eating ice-cream while we listened to live music on the side of a hill. I think his one eye that is in the light shows a bit of his soul. Half his face that is in the dark brings mystery to this photo.
Pippy is our beloved dog that will soon turn 15. This is her favourite spot to hang out on and watch the world outside but also keep an eye on all of us. Half of her is lit up from the light entering through the window. The christmas tree lights can also be seen in the background. As she grows older, I am grateful for everyday that we have with her. I often whisper in her ear, “stay with us for a while longer…”
I love this photograph because I think it makes the viewer ask “where the heck is this boy coming from?” To me, this photograph is all about the mystery of childhood.
Darkness and shadow starts to overtake this day as the sun sets. There are a few minutes left for my beautiful boy to play and spin on the beach.
Thank you to my amazing family, friends and clients who have supported me on my photography journey. I love sharing my photographs with you and the compliments and comments you send my way are so appreciated!!
